A Very Twin Quarantine Birthday
Heres the deal. I love a good birthday and it bummed me out when I felt that the twins weren’t going to have their ridiculous birthday shenanigans that I’ve made them accustomed to over the past two years, we decided to start micro parties every week but still needed to pick a theme until I thought of Club Quarantine.
If you haven’t been rocking out to DNice who has been live spinning every night – you are welcome. My best friend had given them this DJ set that they obsess over so it felt like a good fit as every day the twins would ask ‘for the man with the hat on the phone’ and would rock out. Theme chosen.
First step for me is always the cake.
So I teamed up with Buttercream Bakeshop, who made this EPIC old school stereo cake that had speakers, okay. No one thought it was a cake until the twins figured it out and then tried to demolish it. I found Stylish Detail on the ‘gram, who made the cutest custom streamers ever and was the kindest to work with.
Short of asking DNice to spin for us, I wanted to have a music element. So we asked a favor of DJ Will, who made these little boys day. True to embarrassing mom form. I’ve taught the twins a few dances that we do together and when ‘Yummy’ by Justin Beiber came on they rocked it out and were so proud – I’ll never forget it.
Party Decor
In an effort to be low-key, high-key which is my only mode really, I worked with the talented I Decor Events, who created this balloon piece in all our favorite colors and these chic balloon infinity circle situation that the boys were enamored with. I asked her to just run with it and she crushed it – kindest ever and I’m trying to make up excuses as to how/why we need more infinity balloon circles in our life.
Their birthday is always one of my favorite days of the year. And in a crazy world of 2020, seeing two little rays of sunshine smile over a DJ booth and mixing on turntables was totally worth it in my crazy mind.
The real kicker is going to be now what the hell will we do for 4? Eddie’s already rolling his eyes I can just feel it.
Till next time,
P
