AHH how the hell is TheEverydayVogue.com 2 years old! I blinked and here we are! I am so grateful for you, my readers, my community – you fuel me with ideas more than you know. For all my future or existing creators {or for those who are curious as to wtf it means to blog}, I wanted to spill a few secrets with you that literally no one tells you about blogging in hopes that it helps you be smarter. Let’s go!

3 Things No One Tells You About Blogging

Sometimes you don’t know wtf to write

Coming up with something to say every week or few weeks in a longer format is hard AF. Coming up with something meaningful to see on Instagram is hard AF too. What happens when allll your ideas have runneth dry? Then what? This is how you avoid that from happening:

  • Plan! Like really plan with a content calendar or an on-going list of ideas to structure you concepts and make sure you don’t forget anything. I keep a Google Keep list that I add to constantly, so I never feel like I don’t know what to say.
  • Ask people to guest-blog and don’t be afraid of how big or small you are in comparison. My first guest blogger is still one of my favorite posts till this day and happens to still be the highest read post. I asked Ingrid De La Mare-Kenny to share her secrets on ‘how to get the flattest stomach of your life’. Ask you never know what you are going to get!
  • Lastly, seek inspiration outside of yourself and I don’t mean from other bloggers. Read non-fiction or biographies. Listen to podcasts that are entertaining or inspiring. Find your fuel to keep going and just go with it!

Blogging is an evolution

Who you start off as and where you go will change and you have to accept that. You adapt and if your blog is a true representation of you, you have to let it evolve alongside you. When I first started, I didn’t want to show my full self visually though the writing was completely pure. I wore things I saw other bloggers wearing and tried to take that on. Last year around this time that I needed to stop doing that. It doesn’t work. Don’t shop by liketoknow.it only. Focus on you and building a community who thinks what you think is cool and rock it.

Did I think I would start spilling business and social secrets here? No. Did I think that gut health, concussion recovery and overall wellness would be something I’d be writing about? HELL NO. But this is my life and here we are. Go with it.

You need the support of your family/spouse/friends

You must have passion to keep writing, posting, snapping every week. There will be a long time that you wonder if anyone cares, but you need someone to care and that’s where family – specifically my husband – is SO important. The crazy whirlwind of shoots, outfit changes, snap this, etc would be isolating if he wasn’t cheering me on. You need this. You need a sounding board and if you don’t have one… I’ll be there for you 🙂

If you are a blogger needing guidance, I want to help you. DM me about my 1:1 blogger mentorship program as it’s been INCREDIBLE!
