For a decade I have felt like an alien in my own body. I made a choice, I made the wrong choice and if you didn’t catch the full story on my first fucked up breast augmentation, run on over here but also here. For a decade I lived and covered this mistake until I found myself with Dr. Lickstein of Elle Aesthetics. If you are considering a breast augmentation PLEASE read the previous posts, please.

In order to truly appreciate the journey, I am very hesitantly, sharing the before. One side was out of place. Things had shifted. Everything was off and my normal was a place of shame, secrecy, but in order to appreciate the beauty, you must also see the pain, so here it is. On the left pre-op on the right, post op and of course up top current !

The Reveal: Post Breast Augmentation

I wasn’t joking, pretty bad right? Anyways, the day of the surgery I was so calm, zen actually. No pain and very loopy after and slept for 48 hours like a champ. After day 3 I asked to be removed from my pain killers and moved to tylenol. The truth is my surgery was easy, my recovery was even easier. The ONLY thing and this is TMI so keep reading past this if we are close personal friend m k? The level of constipation post-surgery is not a freaking joke. When you go in for anesthesia it shuts down your guts, so read between the lines and make sure you have lots of fiber in your diet.

I was able to move, workout {I listen to my body} and drive within a week, but I really did take it easy. If I was tired, I rested. If I didn’t want to move, I didn’t. Being in tune with oneself is key. The experience with Dr. Lickstein on surgery day and post op was amazing. I cannot believe how different it was from round 1. They cared, they care, they still care today – a stark contrast from my first round.

Here are a few tips for if you are considering this type of surgery and what to do:

I’ve said this before, but do your research! Go to 2-3 consults, seriously. Look at the surgeons work and if you can, speak to past patients. I spoke to 2 of Dr. Lickstein’s past patients and had several recommendations about him.

Talk to Your Breast Surgeon

  • Show the doctor examples of boobs you want. I showed several photos and was VERY specific. Even if the photos are not nude {though tbh you can find anything}, be very granular here – it’s your boobs!
  • If you can, avoid shopping by price. This is artistry and your body. Most doctors offer payment plans and it’s worth paying a premium.
  • Tell the doctor what you DONT want! I didn’t want to look top heavy, I showed him pictures of Emrata and asked for him to provide me with his recommendation too on projection. I think showing aspirational images is best and your doctor will tell you what’s realistic for you.
  • My choice was the Galaflex which is like a built in bra for your boobs. It keeps them from not dropping over time and keeps the life span of your implants alive and well for longer.

Prepare Yourself Before the Breast Augmentation Surgery

  • 24 -48 hours try to get into a very zen headspace. Truth be told, 48 hour before I had a massive shoot, but I was so happy to end my year doing what I love and then fixing this issue that’s plagued me. 24 hours before I got very calm. I spent time with the twins, had a great workout, closed any loops that needed to be, mediated, ate a lot of protein, so that come surgery day I was so happy and calm – not a single nerve genuinely.
  • Get a blow out the night before and wear something cute and comfy that day. The truth is, it will be a few days till you will have enough energy to do your glam, so this made me feel great and I wore cute pjs to lounge in when I got home.

What Happens on Post Breast Augmentation Surgery?

  • Post op: you will be pretty f-ed up on meds, so make sure you minimize your interactions to those who you are comfortable seeing you at your worst.
  • Caretakers – especially if you are a Mom: I had my in laws with us so that Eddie could comfortably take care of me.
  • Explain to your kids: I explained that Mama was having “arm surgery”, so they wouldn’t come running up and would be more gentile. They were SO gentile.

Two Weeks After My Breast Augmentation Surgery

About two weeks post surgery I was wearing a sports bra and caught myself in the mirror. I’m even. I’ve been imbalanced for so long and it felt weird to look normal. It still does to be honest.

Every time I catch myself wearing a dress, a top, a sports bra, just living normally, I feel more confident. I feel like me. Here’s the thing, whether breast augmentation or any plastic surgery or injectables is for you is immaterial. I’m just going to leave you with this – do not underestimate the value of self-investment. If something makes you feel good, do it.

I hope that if you are considering any surgery, you will take extra steps to avoid this situation and please feel free to ask any and all questions – I’m an open book!
