The Perfectly Imperfect IG Mom

The Perfectly Imperfect IG Mom

Do you ever go on the ‘gram and think ‘damn xxxx has the perfect life?’ I do it too. I am guilty of getting sucked in {first step is admitting right?}. So I’m here to officially proclaim that:

I am the Perfectly Imperfect IG Mom

Playing the comparison game – especially on the ‘gram – is toxic. Not to mention, it is suffocating at times so I want to demystify things for you a bit. I also want to teach you how to get yourself out of that comparison funk.

Behind the 9 Instagram Squares

  • Don’t forget that Instagram is – for many – the perfectly curated highlight reel. Behind my pictures is a Mom who is balancing being a wife, work and praying I don’t drop any proverbial balls in the air or end up with egg on my face in any way. My photos are a purview into the loves in my life coupled with pieces of vulnerability {and maybe a few tips in there too}
  • On most days you can find need- to-be-folded piles of laundry all around my house. I’m generally in some sort of activewear, and I’m on day 10 dry shampoo. The other day I found dried ketchup on my wrist from feeding my boys day before – sexy right?
  • I  – like many of you – have moments of self-doubt, wanting to make sure that I’m always doing the best for my kids. And, my God I’m really tough on myself.  Eddie is like #tbt Leo DiCaprio in Titanic. He pulls me out of the cold water when I find myself in those places
  • I have moments where I snap at my kids and my husband. A major truth bomb for you. Any time I get pissed at my kids I agonize about it because of my #MommyIssues. I do not want to repeat things that have haunted me from my past. See here if you don’t know what I mean

How to Handle The Instagram Comparison Game

  • Remember to mentally filter those already filtered images. We all are human and it’s okay to show you beautiful photos, but don’t forget that beautiful photos and perfect lives are not the same and don’t exist
  • Bottom line is this, please please please unfollow people who make you feel badly. It’s not f-ing worth it

So there you are, I’ve pulled back the covers and hopefully it will help you a bit when scrolling through your feeds. PS Who do you love following that lifts you up? Tell me in the comments about being a perfectly imperfect mom below
